Acne Treatments
Acne Is More Than Skin Deep
“My skin is ruining my life.”
“I’m so pathetic. I have no life. I just wanna crawl in a black hole and die.”
“Sad, my whole schedule revolves around my skin.”
The Psychological effects of acne are devastating. Everyone who has ever suffered this horrible condition knows how debilitating it can be.
It’s an obsession.
Missing school, avoiding work, ringing your friends with excuses for why you can’t go out, and being afraid to leave the house are all part of this twisted reality. The emotional and social toll is enormous. And you are willing to try almost anything to free yourself from this dark dungeon.
It gets so bad at times that you feel like you’re being bum-rushed by your emotions, one feeling after another overwhelming you — a vicious emotional cycle, leading to helplessness and hopelessness.
Freedom from Shame and Hopelessness
So what can you do? What’s the solution?
First off, you need to understand that it’s not hopeless. You just have to know what works and what doesn’t…The best solution is what works for you.
Don’t give up.
Effective acne treatment can not only reverse the physical effects of acne, but can also reverse the hidden psychological and emotional scars that go with it.
Acne doesn’t have to be a life sentence. The shame, embarrassment, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy can be overcome.
The good news is that there are real solutions. Most solutions fall under three categories: topical (topical being anything from laser therapy to creams), oral, or both. Your treatment choice depends on the severity of your acne. Mild to moderate acne treatments are usually topical, like over-the-counter creams that have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Severe acne, on the other hand, may require both topical and oral treatments. In any case, you should consult your dermatologist to find out the best solution for you.
Homemade remedies for mild to moderate cases can help, too, many of these remedies work surprisingly well.
Acne Home Remedies
Here are a few folk acne remedies for you to try.
First remedy:
- Camphor lotion – ½ tsp
- Tomato juice – ½ tsp
- Honey – ½ tsp
Mix it all together well and apply the paste to your face, leaving it on for 15 minutes, and then washing it off with warm water, followed by a cold water rinse.
Second remedy:
Dab egg white on your pimples and leave it on for 20 minutes or overnight. Works well.
Third remedy:
The Baking Soda Mask (NOT, I repeat, NOT baking powder). Mix baking soda with water and apply it gently to your skin after washing it with a mild cleanser. Leave on for at least 20 minutes and then rinse it off.
With more innovative, alternative acne treatments becoming available, there’s no reason to go through the psychological and social hell that comes with acne.
