Surgical Treatment Methods For Acne Scars

One of the most typical after aftermath of acne is acne scarring. These scars result as the reaction of the body’s immunological response to fight redness associated with acne. Acne scars can be basically specified into types– depress scars eg. [ice pick scars ] and the ones where in the skin tissue is raised like keloids.

While scars can be annoying, the good part is that you can have several surgical treatments that will help you get shot of acne scars. These are some options.

Dermabrasion: This procedure involves the removal of the skin surface thru erosion. The abrasion is performed with the aid of a wire brush which spins at high speeds. This is an agonizing method and often requires the use of anesthesia. Your skin may become red and raw after dermabrasion and may take several months to heal absolutely. The process is useful only if your scars are raised above the surrounding skin.

Microdermabrasion: this is another form of dermabrasion and involves the removal of only the upper most surface cells of the skin with help from aluminum oxide crystals which are passed through a vacuum tube. While this procedure usually requires several sittings, it does not cause any damage to the skin.

Chemical Peeling- Here in chemicals are put to use to remove the upper most scarred skin. The recently formed skin is obviously scar free.

Laser Therapy- This scar treatment is centered around the process to create lesions on your skin via microscopic pulses of light. This light destroys the damaged skin tissue and creates way for new cell expansion. It even stimulates collagen production. Increased levels of collagen together with new skin cell formation help you get rid of scar tissue.

Subcision: this technique is utilized to treat deep rolling scars caused by acne. Here, the skin tissue in the affected area is separated from the deeper scar tissue. This enables the collection of blood under the affected and thus, causes the deep scar to come to the level of the skin. Once the skin has been leveled, acne scar treatments like laser treatment, chemical peeling and Dermabrasion are performed to smooth out the scarred tissue.

Punch Grafting- This method involves swapping of scarred skin with skin from other areas of the body. Scarred skin is removed with the assistance of surgical instruments. This ends in a hole. This hole is then covered up with standard skin taken for other areas of the body. Since the process involves removal of your skin, it can take a week to heal.

There are many other methods through which you can remove your acne scars including, cortisone shots and cryosurgery.
