7 Organic Skin Care Tips for Fall and Winter

Fall and winter exact the harshest seasonal treatment on our skin. During this time of year it’s important to give the skin extra care to keep it moisturized. Maintain radiant and healthy skin throughout the holiday season and into the new year by following these fall and winter organic skin care tips.

1. Consume Plenty of Water

Drinking lots of water will help you to hydrate your skin. Take a bottle of water, juice or tea with you when you leave the house. Hot herbal tea can work miracles when it’s cold. Drinking copious amounts of liquids will hydrate your skin enough that you will maintain a healthy glow on even the coldest winter days.

2. Exfoliate Dead Skin Cells Away

A body and facial scrub can remove dead skin cells, keep your skin feeling fresh. You don’t need to buy expensive products for the job. There are various exfoliation recipes you can use at home using items you find in your kitchen.

3. Employ Organic Moisturizers

Moisturize your skin after exfoliating it. There are various all natural, organic skin moisturizers available. These organic products help protect your skin rather than harming it because they contain no harsh chemical preservatives.

4. Remember to Wear Sunscreen

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that you should not apply sunscreen when going out. You need a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15. There are sunscreens on the market that are made out of organic ingredients. Some sunscreens also contain moisturizing agents. Use a good sunscreen to ensure that you protect your skin from the harsh environment.

5. Wear Gloves

When your mother made a fuss about wearing gloves in the winter, she knew what she was talking about. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. When buying gloves, look for those made out of hemp or other organic material. Gloves will help your hands stay warm and dry, and will protect your skin from the harsher affects of the elements.

6. Add an Organic Oil to Your Bath

An organic oil bath can hydrate your skin as well as relax you. For instance, a lavendar bath nourishes the skin while relaxing the body and calming the senses. A few drops of the oil in your bath water will do wonders for you after a tiring day at the office (or, in case of the Christmas Season, the mall).

7. Use Organic Lip Balm to Protect Your Lips

Your lips will often get chapped during fall and winter. Both the cold and the use of indoor heaters can cause lips to chap. Help stave off chapping by using an organic lip balm.. Keep the balm handy by carrying one in your pocket or purse. After all, you never know when you’ll need one. If you’ve suffered from chapped lips, then you know lip balm is something you should never be without.
