All Natural Acne Treatments

Acne is not a life-threatening condition, but it does affect your confidence and can be life-debilitating. You might feel awkward in social situations or have trouble finding the nerve to ask out a potential date. Of course, expensive pharmaceutical and over the counter treatments are available. In the United States alone, people spend over one billion dollars each year in search of flawless skin.

Trying to actually get rid of acne whether you are a teenager or older can be very difficult. The over the counter remedies usually make bold promises but the effectiveness of these varies greatly. The problem I have tended to find is that at best they only provide a temporary fix. If you stop using them for any time at all then acne returns.

Home treatments that you use are specifically used in order to treat and maintain enlarged pores, backed up pores and the excess oil and dead skin you have. Of course these factors cannot be seen very well with the naked eye, but a home treatment is designed to help tackle these issues and treat them. One of the most popular home treatments for acne is mint wash. This is an herbal wash that can be applied directly to your affected areas of acne. All you need to use to create this wash is peppermint oil, cool water and a mouthwash that is menthol-based. Once you have this mixed up you can dab it all over your face with just a cotton ball.

You can start treatment with aloe vera. Aloe vera has antibacterial properties. The pulp, a colorless gel, acts as an anti inflammatory agent and heals the skin irritations. Aloe vera reduces sebum secretion and prevents the occurrence of pimples. Apply the gel directly on the pimples. The cucumber is delicious on any salad or sandwich. But it is very effective in cleaning the face and enhances skin elasticity. You can cut slices of cucumber and apply on pimples. Cucumber has a beneficial effect on skin. You can mix cucumber with lettuce and carrots to make a mask.

Conventional acne treatments like benzoyl peroxide and antibiotics have side effects and don’t treat the root cause of acne at all. Conventional creams can leave our skin red, peeling, and over dry. It’s like a whole other skin problem on top of the acne, our skin can even look worse. That’s not the way to go. Antibiotics are dangerous because they can compromise our immune and digestive systems. A safer and healthier alternative is to try a probiotic like those found in yogurt. A good probiotic is often found at health food stores or newer grocery stores, these work with our bodies and not against them.

Simply drinking 8 eight ounce glasses of water can go a long way towards flushing toxins out of the body which leads to a clearer complexion. A sluggish colon can contribute to a poor complexion and therefore including more fiber can assist in keeping the toxins from accumulating and leading to poor skin conditions. A simple, PH balanced cleanser will assist you in keep the surface of your skin clean and less oily. Good skin starts on the inside and natural acne home treatments will help you put the acne problems to rest once and for all. If you want to be acne free for life, you need to make changes in the way you eat and in the way you treat your skin in general. Store bought treatments only mask the problem for a short while; the acne always comes back.
