Remedies for Acne

Acne is an extremely common skin condition and can happen to both young and old alike. Although the condition is most prevalent on a person’s face it can sometimes be found on other parts of the body including the back, chest, shoulders, legs as well as the buttocks. But luckily today there are a number of different types of acne remedies that people can use for treating this particular skin condition.

Many people who suffer from acne today rather than using medications those they have been prescribed by their doctor or which can be brought over the counter are using more natural ones instead. Below we take a look at some of the natural remedies that one can easily use for treating this particular kind of skin condition.

  1. Tea Tree Essential Oil – This is one of the most popular of the various natural remedies for treating acne today. All that a person needs to do is mix a small amount of the essential oil with a carried fluid and then apply it directly to the affected area with a cotton ball. Once applied the anti-bacterial properties within the oil get to work killing off the bacteria that has caused the acne to erupt.

  2. Zinc – Yet another very popular remedy for acne even though it is not as effective as some of the medications that are prescribed or can be brought over the counter. But although it can help to reduce the acne there are some side effects associated with using zinc one of them being it can upset a person’s digestive system. Plus taking too much could actually cause other medical problems in the future.

  3. Garlic – The main disadvantage to be had from using this particular remedy is the smell, but if you can put up with it garlic is extremely effective at treating acne. Just like the tea tree oil, garlic has anti bacterial properties and when applied directly to the skin (either in crushed or juice form) it helps to kill off the bacteria that have caused the acne to appear.

  4. Lemons – These are another extremely effective remedy for treating acne because they contain high levels of Vitamin C that can boost your immune system. If your immune system is functioning properly it will be better able to fight and kill of the acne bacteria.

Yes you can drink lots of lemon juice to help boost your immune system but a great way to treat the acne itself is by applying it directly to the affected area. What you need to do is take some lemon juice and mix this with some rosewater and then apply to the acne using a cotton wool ball. Once applied you leave the area alone to allow the mixture to be absorbed by the skin. This particular remedy in order to be really effective needs to be applied to the area affected at least two or three times each day.

Along with the acne remedies that we have shown above there are plenty of other natural treatments you may want to consider trying. A quick search of the internet and you will discover lots more very safe and effective treatments for this skin condition. But as well as being safe they are also likely to cost you a lot less than the remedies your doctor prescribes or which you can buy over the counter.
